Description

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment states: "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability." Although Donald J. Trump, America's worst president ever, was impeached for an unprecedented 2nd time earlier this year, that impeachment involved Trump's alleged incitement of the un-American thugs that assaulted our most precious ideal: a free, fair, and secure election. I argue that after that impeachment Mr. Trump "gave aid and comfort" to those same "enemies of the state" in the following ways: 1. His continued vocal support of the "Big Lie" gives "aid and comfort" to those individuals that will soon be on trial for their participation in the Insurrection of January 6th. 2. His pardoning of Roger Stone and Steve Bannon - two of the chief architects of the assault on our Capitol - are a prima facia example of "aid and comfort" as laid out in Section 3 of the 14th Amendment ex post facto. Therefore, it is incumbent upon both Houses of Congress to pass a binding resolution declaring that Trump is prohibited by the 14th Amendment from ever running for office again. That is all....class dismissed.
