You know, like in PROGRESSIVE. People lived in caves until some people settled in one area and built structures. That was progress. People walked until someone figured out how to tame horses. Progress. People rode horses until someone invented motorized vehicles. Progress. Most people couldn't afford cars until Henry Ford came along and used a moving assembly line and standardized models to make them affordable to more people. Progress. These are all things conservatives probably fought against. They probably said "What's wrong with caves and wandering around? Why do we need houses?" etc. They just don't get it.
