In addition to the pay scale information a contract is provided for work aboard the vessel crew-members are insured for any major bodily damage that could occur as a result of the harsh work environment. That being said I have not lost nor had any serious injuries in my time as captain. The reason for this, we all stay alert and do are best to work as a team everyday we use good communication and I require that we remain as competent as we can during the season I find that injuries and accidents can be avoided by having common sense and actively participating in good communication. Description of fishing style: For any experienced crewman I generally fight the line in what ever district we fish in. Combat Fishing is usually the name of our game aboard our vessel, if you have already experienced this then your ahead of the game and you know what I am talking about. I want to be sure that its understood that the vessel I run isn't for the faint of heart. If you are the type to give up at the onset of adversity you need not apply. Be willing to move between many varied jobs quickly and with effectiveness. If this all sounds too hard you will find yourself much happier in a different field of work that doesn't require any physical endurance, sacrifice or stamina. You must be able to work in a high intensity environment with a small group of people and get along since were together for 6+ weeks in a small space. Arrival: We will sleep on the vessel for the duration of the work period/season. You will have your own bunk and split semi private crew quarters on the boat. About your Captain: I have been in the fishing industry my entire life, I grew up commercial fishing. The first year I consider myself officially working in the industry is 24 years ago when I got my first paycheck as a deckhand. Since then I have done multiple commercial fisheries. I have experience in every aspect of this fishery along with having captained the current vessels in Alaska, I co/captained 2 vessels before these. I have never had to fire a crewman, I have been extremely lucky in that I have gotten the best people available. The way that I am able to do this is by carefully selecting the top performers and a little luck. Final thoughts: If you give your best, learn quick and work hard you will do just fine. I require that we all bring our best everyday and we watch out for each other. Think you have what it takes? Meet all of the above criteria? Then send in your resume! The few who are selected (if in the Seattle area) will be required to come in and do a face to face meeting with me and we will figure out our travel dates. Must put IWANTTOCREW4U-2021 in your Subject line so I know you aren't a bot or scammer.
