Location: 7745 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland OR 97213 Compensation: $13.50 -$15.00 hourly D.O.E. (Portland Metro) Employment type: full-time (M-F, 7:00AM - 3:30PM) with an immediate start date. The services we offer combine the harmony of beauty, art and function through sustainable means. Currently, Blossom manages and maintains both residential and commercial clients such as the City of Portland and the Metro Regional Center. We install as well as maintain landscapes with a focus on ecological designs. This position will be mostly focused in the Stormwater Management/Bioswale Maintenance work with the City of Portland and the Bureau of Environmental Services, in addition to general landscape maintenance for our commercial accounts and smaller enhancement projects. This is an hourly position with a pay rate that is commensurate with experience. This is a full time, year round position with an opportunity for growth at Blossom. Job Duties and Responsibilities Perform landscape maintenance duties such as weed control, spring clean-up, fall clean-up, plant installation, mulch application, trimming and pruning. Perform small landscape enhancement projects such as mulch application, plantings, top soil application, plantings, cleanups, etc. Help maintain a clean and safe work environment, including work site and equipment. Complete jobs in a time-efficient manner meeting company productivity targets. Working together with a team of one or more employees, under supervision of a Crew Lead. Professionally represents Blossom at all times. Operates a variety of mechanical equipment including, but not limited to: Hand tools, blowers, weed eaters, mowers. Maintain a positive, responsive and flexible attitude towards clients and coworkers at all times. Work Environment/Physical Requirements Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic Ability to work overtime or extended shifts if certain circumstances require. Ability to work in various weather conditions - direct sunlight or prevailing rains for extended periods of time Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously throughout the day. Skills and Education: Positive attitude A MUST! We love what we do, and like to have fun doing it! The preferred applicant will have a working knowledge of sustainable horticultural/permaculture practices, including but not limited to planting, pruning, corrective pruning, and fertilization. Plant ID skills a big plus. Willingness to work, take direction and be a team player. This position requires a high school degree or GED, plus a preferred 1-2 year’s experience in the landscaping field. Candidate must be able to read and write with good comprehension. Strong oral and written communication skills, math skills, job planning skills, problem solving skills and mechanical aptitude are a plus. Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus. Experience with installation of hardscape projects – brick, block and stone - a plus. Valid Oregon Driver’s License and insurable with company’s agent. Oregon CDL a plus.
