POSITION OVERVIEW: This position is responsible for assisting the team with the entire mechanical install of a photovoltaic system as well as roof preparation for integration of solar roof glass. This position will ensure to help train novice team members as well as assist in providing quality work while maintaining a safe environment and staying within projected budgets. This position will be evolving as new opportunities are presented. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Transport and load/unload roofing materials in truck Lay new roofing materials such as asphalt, wood, steel and plastics Inspect roofing for damage and perform any needed repairs Spray treatment chemicals on roofs and buildings to seal them from water and weather Clean rooftops by removing leaves and other debris Install insulation materials underneath roofs Use hand tools such as hammers, electric staplers and electric spraying tool Perform any preparation for rail installation: measure, cut and splice rail Directs layout of PV system by using drawings and PV knowledge to ensure proper placement Maintain constant communication with their crew members on the status of task completion and are proactive in accomplishing all tasks assigned and those necessary for the job. Participates in regular safety practices learns safety protocols to apply at job site Assists in running home runs and installing optimizers and collecting stickers and mapping them correctly. Making sure wire management is clean and organized by not touching the roof or exposed to direct sunlight. Assists with ensuring MC4 connectors are installed properly Assisting with laying out panels, making sure space is consistent, and panels are all level Trims ends of rail and places end caps. Ensures to clean up any shavings from roof Prepares material lists for the following day Assist with testing strings/voltage and documenting Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Construction, Solar or Roofing experience with a desire to manage and lead a department. Initiate use and understanding of NEC codes Works well in a small team environment and can take directions Comfortable climbing ladders plus standing and working on residential roof tops (single and 2-story in both hot and cold weather. Follows all OSHA and company safety requirements without question. Follows all company operations standards, policies and processes. Candidate owns their own hand tools Personal reliable transportation Detail oriented and shows pride in their work Positive outlook even when challenged with physically or mentally demanding situations Willing to ask questions if uncertain Candidate needs to be organized Physical fitness level that will allow for quick movement, climbing, bending and lifting heavy loads Previous experience in roofing, construction or related scope of work Communication and teamwork skills including an openness to receiving feedback from superiors General knowledge of roofing procedures, techniques and specialties Strong work ethic and desire to perform quality work While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, climb, bend, kneel, balance, stoop, walk and reach. The employee will frequently be required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
