Electrician Job Description Under the supervision of the Facilities Director, performs a variety of electrical work in the maintenance of College properties and performs other duties as assigned. Essential Duties Summary Install, maintain and repair wiring, control and lighting systems interior and exterior. Inspect electrical components such as transformers and circuit breakers. Handle other basic electrical repairs including changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and repairing ballast and light fixtures, both indoor and outdoor. Troubleshoot and identify electrical problems. Handle minor patching, plastering of walls and ceilings due running electrical conduit and wiring. With approval of the supervisor purchase supplies and materials necessary to complete projects. Maintain and repair tools & equipment related to work. When the College is closed for breaks (Thanksgiving, winter break) there is overtime available for on-call coverage based on seniority rotation. Perform other duties as assigned such as but not limited to: assist other maintenance employees with their work, repair and replacement work not directly related to electrical work such as shade replacement, sign installation, unclogging toilet clogs; replace ceiling tiles, assemble furniture, assist with hanging pictures, white boards and shelving and at times assists with campus table and chair set-ups and large deliveries. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Three to five years of electrical experience in electrical work, experience with low voltage control wiring and a variety of general maintenance skills. Valid driver's license required. Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment, moving furniture, working in tight spaces. Must be able to safely use tools, equipment and work from ladders and scaffolding. Ability to complete the following trainings as required: lock out tag out, confined space, MSDS, asbestos and lead identification, ladder safety, emergency evacuation, in-house OSHA and respirator training and other training SLC requires or mandates.
