Job brief We are looking for a responsible custodian to maintain our facilities. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. The ideal candidate should be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep. A keen eye for details and diligence are also imperative to the custodial maintenance job. It is important for a custodian to be mindful and thorough in working, cleaning and maintaining orderliness to the premises, immediately reporting security issues and vandalism. The job requires great physical endurance to accomplish a variety of tasks at hand. Custodian Responsibilities • Ensure spaces are prepared: • Room set-up and tear-down • Keep rooms neatly arranged • Dust surfaces • Sweep and mop floors • Vacuum carpets • Dump trash and replace liners • Wipe clean and disinfect toilets and sinks • Wipe mirrors, windows, light switches and doorknobs. • Monitor & restock (10) bathroom disposables (e.g. soap, toilet paper, paper towels, deodorizers, etc..) • Kitchen appliance maintenance • Daily walk-thru of entire campus in order to maintain facility cleanliness. • Trash removal • Sweeping off cobwebs, • Wiping off handrails & patio furniture, and ledges • Watering trees • Blowing/power washing when directed. • Take notice and report any pest infestation. • Report damages and oversee repairs when needed. • Do laundry. (kitchen towels, cleaning supplies, and table linens) • As you exit, secure facilities by locking doors and closing any open windows. • Be available & flexible to undertake occasional special events with custodial tasks (setting up tables and chairs, lifting heavy items, etc.) Requirements • Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role • Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances • Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components • Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices • Attention to detail and conscientiousness • Very good physical condition and strength • High school diploma is preferred but not required • Background check Optional: • Perform maintenance and minor repairs (replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, minor leaks etc.)
