Create your own Japanese Moss Ball transforming a houseplant into art. Learn how to make a Kokedama, a Japanese moss ball, to display your favorite houseplant as part of your decor. This class will take you step by step through creating a soil ball, inserting the plant and wrapping the soil ball in sheet moss for a spectacular and unusual display of your plants. You will be shown how to change the look of your moss ball with various different display methods. This class is rated easy and available for anyone wishing to learn new ways to use plants as part of their decorating scheme. Soil, moss, and twine are provided. Masks required. Classes are outdoors with social distancing. Instructor: Jennifer Harty, Master Gardener Ages: Adults and ages 12+ welcome Prerequisites: No prior gardening experience required. If there are less than 5 participants, the class will be cancelled and refunded. About the Instructor Jennifer is an avid gardener who loves to create art using plant materials. An enthusiastic amateur flower arranger, Jennifer loves to use different plant mediums to create displays, colorful flower beds and artfully arranged objects among her plantings. In addition to these hobbies, Jennifer has been a Master Gardener for 15 years in the Columbia River Gorge as well as a previous member of the local Garden Clubs. Jennifer is also a Master Beekeeper and enjoys watching the bees pollinate her vegetables and flowers each day.
