Challah is a fluffy traditional Jewish braided egg bread, and you'll learn to make your own loaf from scratch in this in-person class! Challah is a fluffy traditional Jewish braided egg bread, and you'll learn to make your own loaf from scratch in this in-person class! We'll start by measuring out the ingredients, mixing, kneading the dough and letting it rise.  We'll take a short break during the rise and learn to make hummus. Then we'll learn several braiding patterns: 3, 4, 6-strand braids and round loaves for the holidays.  Then you'll bake your loaf and enjoy it warm out of the oven (or you can take the dough with you and freeze to use later). I'll disspell the myth that baking is an "exact science" and share strategies to fit baking into a busy schedule.  All levels welcome! You must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to attend this class (i.e. two weeks after your second dose of a two-dose vaccine, or two weeks after a one-dose vaccine) Proof of vaccination will be required upon entry, or you can send it electronically if you wish. The class is open to participants ages 12 and older. Please note there will be a very friendly golden retreiver dog present. The class will take place in a private kitchen in North Sammamish. The location on the map is approximate cross street, you will receive the exact address a couple of days before the class. Class size is limited to 6 participants so there will be lots of individualized attention. I started baking bread 10+ years ago when I used to live in a co-op and get lots of practice! I've been teaching classes for the last five years with Seattle Parks and Recreation in local community centers.  I love sharing my baking knowledge and making baking seem less intimidating.
