Proceeds feed LOCAL kids. This backpack program gets food to local school kids on weekends and holidays when the cafeteria is closed. Twenty-two million children receive free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Program. For many of these children, school meals may be the only meals they eat. What happens when they go home over the weekend? Provision SD BackPack Program has been helping local nutritionally insecure children get the nutritious and easy-to-prepare food they need on the weekends and holidays. Weekly, backpacks of food are assembled at our Escondido location and then distributed to students in San Marcos and Escondido through their schools. With your help, we hope to serve more schools this year and provide food to more than 300 nutritionally insecure children.
