Hi friends! Get ready to grab your bright colors, glow sticks and head over to our special GLOW HIKE Night at Cowels mountain! This hike is prioritizing QUEER/TRANS BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color). We are extending an invite to our TRANS, Gender Non Conforming and Non Binary siblings who may not identify as BIPOC. We will be meeting at the start of the trail head at 7pm to hike a 3.0 mile incline hike at Cowels Mountain in the evening. We are encouraging attendees to wear bright neon colors and bring Glow sticks and/or body paint for a fun creative hike with us! As always we will be taking plenty of breaks, taking it slow as we start and finish as a group. ABOUT OUR HIKE- Cowles Mountain Trail is a 3 mile usually heavily trafficked out and back trail located near La Mesa, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. We will enjoy great views during the entire ascent but the summit offers 360-degree panoramic views of downtown San Diego, Mexico, North County, and Orange County on a clear day. The trail can get steep and rocky towards the summit but the views are worth it! Elevation gain-908ft Hike- OUT & BACK We will be starting our hike at a time that is usually not too busy, and is ideal for a large group to attend WHAT TO BRING- Mask up! Bring a mask you can breathe comfortably in. Sunscreen, hat, NEON or BRIGHT clothing if possible. Flashlight or Headlamp (it will be dark on our way down the trail.) PLENTY of Water, shoes with GREAT TREAD. HIKING POLES are recommended if you have them. Do you need some, or want to try them out? Reserve some from our donation based QTP gear Library!
