GLEN HEAD, NY — A dilapidated home that officials considered a blight on the Glen Head community has been demolished. Crews working for the Town of Oyster Bay tore down the home, following years of complaints from neighbors and failed inspections by code enforcement officers. This was the 18th abandoned home that has been demolished since the Quality of Life Taskforce was formed four years ago. "Protecting our suburban quality of life is a top priority for the Town Board," said Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino. "No community should be forced to deal with unmaintained and dangerous eyesores, and we've been addressing these blights in all neighborhoods." Officials say town personnel have repeatedly investigated this property and found "deplorable conditions and a lack of maintenance." "Our Town has continued its mission to aggressively combat derelict properties through code enforcement and our demolition program," said Councilman Lou Imbroto, chairman of the Town's Quality of Life Taskforce. "Our Town Board takes quality of life concerns seriously and we will continue our efforts to safeguard our neighborhoods and protect our taxpayers." Complaints can be filed here.
