Borough Of Fort Lee Fundraises For Hudson Terrace Fire Victims

FORT LEE, NJ — Following the fire that consumed a whole five-story building in Knightsbridge Apartments, in Hudson Terrace, on Monday, the Borough of Fort Lee has started a fundraising campaign for the residents that were affected. Even though none of the people living there sustained injuries, 38 families were permanently displaced, as the building collapsed. A couple of firefighters were treated for minor injuries. "The displaced families are currently most in need of monetary donations and gift cards," the borough shared on social media. Donations are being accepted both via check and gift cards sent or dropped off at the Mayor's office, at Borough Hall and through a GoFundMe page, which has set a goal of $30.000. So far, $1.620 has been raised through GoFundMe. According to the page, all the money will be allocated to victims of the fire through the Borough's Charitable Foundation for Fort Lee and will be divided evenly amongst the victims who lost everything by the Borough's Administration and Office of Emergency Management. The fire started Monday at around 3:30 p.m. and flames raged throughout most of the day, only being brought under control at around 1:25 a.m. the next day.
