Vehicle Catches Fire On Southbound Route 53

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A vehicle caught fire as it pulled off Route 53 onto Spangler Drive in Romeoville Thursday afternoon. Police said passengers in the car got out quickly and were unharmed. The fire was non-suspicious, police said. The village sent out a community alert via email around 3:50 p.m. asking people to avoid the area. Romeoville Police put out the fire in about 10 minutes and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
