Press release from the City of Reno: June 9, 2021 In our ongoing commitment to keep citizens and media informed, we've summarized the outcomes of a few key agenda items from today's Regular Meeting of the Reno City Council: B.23 & B.24 - Moana Springs Community Aquatics and Fitness Center Council approved an architect Consultant Agreement with Van Woert Bigotti Architects for the Schematic Design for the Moana Springs Community Aquatics and Fitness Center in an amount not to exceed $460,000. Council also approved an engineering Consultant Agreement with Farr West Consulting, Inc. for the Civil Site Design for the Moana Springs Community Aquatics and Fitness Center in an amount not to exceed $255,596. While a 35-meter pool is in the current design for the project, staff will keep the option of a 50-meter pool as a consideration in the project plans. F.1 - 22 on Lakeside Zoning Map Amendment Council approved an Ordinance Adoption regarding the 22 on Lakeside Zoning Map Amendment. The amendment changes zoning for this three-parcel area from single-family to multi-family residential. The project is located near Lakeside Drive and West Peckham Lane. D.1 - Truckee Meadows Regional Plan Council agreed to sponsor an amendment to the Truckee Meadows Regional Plan to remove 28 parcels totaling ±33.6 acres from the City of Reno's Sphere of Influence (SOI) boundary. The parcels are located south of La Salle Heights, east of Burks Boulevard, east and west of Mae Anne Avenue and north of I-80. This amendment would allow the existing homes, many of which were approved and constructed decades ago under Washoe County's jurisdiction, to be able to expand and be updated under the County's regulations. Staff will now submit an application to the Regional Planning Agency for this amendment. D.2 - Feasibility study for irrigation in Warm Springs Valley Council approved an interlocal agreement with the Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA), City of Sparks, and Washoe County for reimbursement of costs to conduct a feasibility study to evaluate the use of recycled water for irrigation in Warm Springs Valley (Palomino Farms and LW Land Company) with corresponding water sustainability benefits in the amount of $1.6 million with Reno's share not to exceed $400,000 from the Sewer Fund. The main purpose of this regional study will be to evaluate lower-cost water-treatment options at the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility (TMWRF), which are necessary to accommodate the anticipated population growth in the next 20 years.
