LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange is poised to resurface three streets in the next year.
On Monday, the Village Board is expected to vote on a contractor to handle the projects. The village plans to resurface Elm, Maple and Goodman avenues, from Gilbert to Brainard avenues. The three streets are next to each other. The road resurfacing projects would cover 21 blocks.
The three streets, which are rated in poor condition, do not require corresponding water main replacements, officials said.
Eight companies bid on the projects, all but one of them coming lower than the engineer's estimate of $1,363,000.
The low bidder was Arlington Heights-based J.A. Johnson Paving Co., which came in at $1,192,000.
Because of the lower-than-expected price, the village's staff recommends doing additional patching on residential streets throughout the village. According to a memo, the village would target those streets that are not scheduled for resurfacing anytime soon.
Officials also want to use the extra money to replace the fire station's driveway, which they said is in poor condition.
