2 Women Stabbed At Joliet Housing Authority Building

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Fire Department said it rushed two women with stab wounds to St. Joe's hospital and to Silver Cross Hospital on Thursday evening. The non-fatal stabbings happened at the Joliet Housing Authority's Murphy Building in downtown Joliet, 311 North Ottawa St. Joliet Fire Department crews from Station 1 as well as ambulances from Stations 4 and 5 responded to the call about multiple stabbing victims at 311 N. Ottawa St., fire chief Greg Blaskey said. The call came in at 8:08 p.m. Paramedics found a 43-year-old woman had suffered stab wounds to her chest and head. She was taken to Silver Cross in good condition. The other woman, 63 years old, suffered stab wounds to her neck and arm. The second victim was reported in fair condition at AMITA St. Joe's. The Joliet Police Department is investigating the incident. A source with knowledge of the case said that one of the women is suspected of stabbing the other woman with a bottle. At that point, the first victim is believed to have picked up pieces of the broken bottle from the ground and used them to stab her attacker.
