South Bay Couple Accused Of Rotating 100 Sex Workers: DA's Office

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A tech businessman and his wife were arraigned on Friday afternoon on charges of felony human trafficking, pimping and pandering and money laundering after they were arrested on suspicion of running at least six brothels in Silicon Valley, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office. The couple, 57-year-old David Davies and 38-year-old Larong Hu, were arrested this week in Milpitas. In a news release on Friday, the district attorney's office accused the couple of rotating more than 100 sex workers from China, South Korea and Eastern Europe through nondescript apartments in San Jose and Milpitas. Three brothels were located in Milpitas and three in San Jose, according to prosecutors. In interviews with investigators, sex workers said they serviced between 10 and 15 men a day and were advertised online. Men "flowed in and out of the apartments in 30 minute and hour increments," according to the district attorney's office. Prosecutors said the women weren't allowed to leave and had their passports confiscated, in addition to having to pay for their own food and daily necessities. "People do not have the right to treat other people like pack animals," District Attorney Jeff Rosen said. "This County will spare no effort to track down those who exploit others for profit and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law." Prophylactics and other sex work paraphernalia were found in the rooms, according to the district attorney's office. The couple faces prison time if convicted.
