Press release from South Washington County Schools: June 10, 2021 The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) released student graduation rates for 2020 – the first set of graduates during the COVID-19 pandemic. The four-year graduation rate for South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) continues to surpass the state average with 92.3 percent of students graduating on time. Notably, graduation rates for Asian and Hispanic students increased at Woodbury High School, with 100% of English learners obtaining their diploma. East Ridge and Park High Schools also saw an increase for students in special education. Last school year ended in uncertainty for many students as represented in the graduation data for several student groups. SoWashCo Schools continues to evaluate how best to respond to the challenges created by the pandemic, as well as opportunities to reimagine how best to serve students. The MDE Four-Year Graduation Rate is defined and used by the state for accountability purposes. This formula counts the number of students graduating from high school within four years after entering grade nine, as a percent of all students who graduated, dropped out, are continuing high school or have an unknown outcome. Students who transferred into the district are included in this calculation; those who transferred out are not.
