OHIO — Two Ohio companies announced mass layoffs and plant shutterings in recent weeks, while initial unemployment claims climbed in the Buckeye State. Bucyrus Precision is shuttering its plant in Bucyrus. All job loss will be permanent, according to a letter filed with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services. "This decision has been a very difficult one to make, however, we have found no alternatives," company officials said in the letter. ILSCO is closing its Glenmoor Facility, which will impact all of the employees working there. All of the layoffs are expected to be permanent, company officials said in their letter to the state. Bucyrus Precision Tech Inc. in Bucyrus — 92 employeesILSCO in Harrison — 23 employees Approximately 2,000 more Ohioans filed initial unemployment claims last week, according to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services. There were 16,224 filed last week, the department said. However, continuing unemployment claims fell by more than 23,000 last week, 2 News reported.
