BERKELEY, CA — The Berkeley Police Department announced in a statement it is officially recognizing June as LBGTQ+ Pride Month.
"We are proud to express our support of Pride month and the LGBTQ community," the BPD statement said.
The agency said it will provide all employees including sworn and professional staff Pride lapel pins that they'll have the option to wear. The pins will be provided at no cost.
"Across our nation, the month of June is officially recognized as national LGBTQ Pride month, a time to recognize and support the LGBTQ community," the BPD statement said.
"This year, we will again affirm the Berkeley Police Department's commitment to, and support of, the LGBTQ community within our city, and within our Department, in accordance with our dedication to safeguarding our diverse community, and treating all with dignity and respect.
