Rookie Cop 'Knew Exactly What To Do' While Saving Choking Baby

POTTSVILLE, AR — It did not take long for Cody Hubbard, a 23-year-old rookie police officer in Pottsville, Arkansas, to experience first-hand how life as a cop can go "from 0 to 100." On June 3, the police officer saved the life of a baby, a 3-week-old infant who was choking on anti-gas drops, KLRT reported. "A normal day went to a chaotic day in a matter of seconds," Hubbard told KLRT. "When a family is depending on you like that, you know the pressure hits." Joe Chronister, the baby's father, told KLRT Hubbard "knew exactly what to do," and soon got the infant to breathe and let out a cry. Video from Hubbard's bodycam shows the officer tapping the baby on the back a few times before he starts breathing. "He saved my baby's life," Chronister said. The Pottsville Police Department praised their rookie officer's actions, using it as an example of how police officers need to be ready for anything at a moment's notice. "As an officer you never know what is ahead of you for the day, it can go from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye," the police department wrote on Facebook. "Officer Hubbard went above and beyond to save a little life. This is what we are all about!"
