I remember calling UVM police to report being harassed by a member of the faculty. Sue Roberts was anything but professional. After explaining my traumatic situation she scoffed saying "bullshit" and refused to file the report. It was clear that Sue was friends with the person who had harassed me as she used their abbreviated first name throughout the conversation. Sue Roberts belittled me. I felt powerless. I was in shock that my harassment was being so coldly dismissed. After refusing my efforts to make a formal complaint, Sue claimed she had to “go dust some prints”, and abruptly ended the call. It didn't feel right that my harassment went unchecked. The way she felt as though she was empowered to validate, or reject someone's harassment claim without first investigating was insulting. I expected her to take my statement, look into it, or forward it on to someone that would. Completely unprofessional!
