Description

Hello, My name is Azalea Jane and I play keyboards. I’m turning 40 this year and have been playing piano since age 7. I have training in classical and jazz, and have since learned to play many pop styles, including blues, funk, soul, reggae. I also specialize in tango music. I love to jam, can improvise, also love making tight arrangements. I am willing and able to tour. I’m self-employed and can work on my laptop from anywhere. I can learn a set’s worth of songs given recordings and a few weeks’ notice, depending on the complexity and quantity. Suffice it to say I’m versatile and independent. I strive to be as professional and prepared I can. I have a broad range of experiences playing in and/or leading groups, both for pop bands and for my own more classical or chamber compositions. I’ve got a master's degree in music composition from UO. My thesis was a large-scale piece of tango music that I also performed in on bandoneon (tango accordion). I can also play many forms of percussion, a bit of ukulele and electric bass, and am actively working on my backup vocals skills. (I can sing notes from baritone to alto range.) I have never really toured before, but I think I’m very qualified. I love performing, and I love having several performances in a row. I love event production, bringing people together, and making audiences happy. It’s an intense and also very satisfying experience. I think there are a lot of pros to hiring me for your tour, but I’ll put the cons out there up front: I don’t have my own vehicle, and I don’t have a keyboard amp. I’ve got an all-purpose synth with a bunch of sounds and rhythms, a digital full-range piano with a handful of sounds, and a small organ emulator with a killer B3 sound plus a few other combo organ sounds. I've got a mic, a nice keyboard stand with a mounted mic stand, I always come prepared with extra cables and adaptors, and even put together my own little pedalboard for my setup, complete with a mixer and balanced outs. I'd probably leave the full-range keyboard at home, but it's an option. Here's a recent performance with another band on 4/20/21: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YobMLoKviA8 My instagram: https://www.instagram.com/zclefmusic/ Here’s an EP I recorded on keyboards in 2018: https://ospreyfliesthenest.bandcamp.com/album/earth And here’s my YouTube channel you can poke around if you like: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC29aTl5-zZg5Q8odrI3I8PQ I’ll put this out there too just to avoid any confusion or ambiguity: I’m a trans woman, and as such, anyone play with has to be LGBTQ or allies. It doesn’t really need to be discussed; just think and talk about me the same way you would about any other woman (she/her pronouns, all feminine-coded words, etc), stick up for me if someone is being sexist or transphobic, and you’ll be fine! Fully vaccinated.
