We're Hiring! Looking for a maintenance handyman to join our property management maintenance team. Apartment/rental property handyman experience is preferred, but any experience with maintenance/repairs and a basic knowledge in carpentry, minor plumbing, minor electrical repairs, etc is helpful. If you have a good amount of experience that is ideal but we are also willing to do some on-the-job training. Must have a reliable vehicle to use to get to job sites and must have your own hand tools. About us: Vertex Real Estate is a small, growing, residential, third party property management company overseeing a variety of rental properties centered in Amherst, Massachusetts. We have a variety of houses, multi-unit buildings, rental condos, and small complexes. Most of our properties are in Amherst, Sunderland, Hadley, and a few in Northampton. We are looking for someone who is located reasonably close to this area. The Job: Our tenants call us year-round for a wide variety of small repairs. In the summer, we have a lot of turn-overs, and so we need extra help then. Our peak busy times are: mid-May to early July, and mid-August to early October. We do have work orders every single day of the year, so ideally this would be a regular part time or full time job. The work spans all the different areas of the trades: minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry repairs, trouble-shooting heating systems, appliance repair, pest/rodent control, interior painting, fixing issues with doors, windows, blinds, screens, smoke and CO detectors, roof leaks, flooding basements. If there are certain kinds of work that you can't or won't do, we may be able to work around the limitations. Hours: There is some flexibility with setting up the schedule, but looking to make a regular schedule that is the same every week. About 20 to 40 hours per week available. This allows you to plan other jobs and time off ahead of time, and to have regular work that you can schedule around. Potential hours we need to fill are between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm, M-F, and 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Sat-Sun. Availability for some weekend hours is preferred, but not required up front, and would not need to be every weekend. Willingness for after-hours on-call work is a plus, but not a requirement.
