Mariposa Montessori is looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee all building-related activities. Mariposa covers 7 ¼ acres of wooded land in south Austin. Our campus consists of many different buildings spread across the property, which was built in 2018. You will be responsible for preserving the condition of our infrastructure and ensuring that facilities are safe and well-functioning. The ideal candidate will be organized and able to optimize the use of space and equipment while reducing operating costs. The goal of the Facilities Manager is to ensure our school’s accommodations are problem-free and safe so that children, families and staff can work under optimal conditions. Our ideal candidate has experience maintaining a campus or facility of similar size. Responsibilities Include: -Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of buildings and playgrounds to ensure they meet health and safety standards as well and TxDFPS minimum standards for Child Care Centers -Manage our Maintenance Request log, fixing issues in a timely manner -Plan & coordinate all building maintenance and service needs (HVAC system Waste/Recycling, cleaning service, electricity, plumbing, communications, pest and security etc.) -Organize and manage equipment, tools, and supplies -Inspect buildings, community areas, and classrooms monthly, inside & out -Keep records and receipts of service visits -Assist with school functions and facility rentals as needed, after hours -Assist the Outdoor/Gardening staff as needed, other tasks as assigned -Reports to Head of School and collaborates with Outdoor/ Gardening staff Requirements: -High degree of professionalism and ability to interface with staff, team members, and inspection agencies -Comfort working around small children, ability to maintain a calm and respectful presence around them -Flexibility and adaptability working around the daily schedule, keeping in mind that repairs need to be scheduled with mindfulness of children's nap and outdoor play times -Knowledge of repair and maintenance as they apply to facilities (can substitute life experience for work experience) -Strong organization and communication skills, both written and verbal -Good analytical/critical thinking with ability to problem solve -Self-starter: capacity to take initiative -Experience working with hand and power tools -Comfort working outside in all seasons and all weather -A Jack (or Jill) of all trades -Willingness to learn new skills -Ability to lift 50+ lbs -Able to pass a criminal background test Some Tasks Include: -General Maintenance -Paint touch ups -Sweeping/blowing off sidewalks, especially after storms and rain -Cleaning outside widows -Programing outside lights -Programing AC thermostats, changing filters -Quarterly cleaning of drains and gutters -Help monitoring cleaning crew -Overseeing trash services -Scheduled Tues- Sat to allow for mowing and work outside of school hours -Yard maintenance, light tree work, weed-eating, riding mower -Programing door codes -Auguring the toilet, handling clogs -Window washing, breezeway dusting -Monthly playgrounds check for poison ivy and green briar -Daily unlocking of dumpsters -Tightening toilet seats and clean sink facet screens of mold -Fixing classroom curtains This position is full time, Tues-Sat.
