Walsh Trucking is looking for a motivated and self-driven General Facility Maintenance / Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. This position is an important layer of our Maintenance department. You will assist in many areas of the shop as well as the office and truck yard. Job Duties - Assists mechanics with general maintenance and repairs on fleet of tractors and trailers - Performs basic building maintenance projects such as sweeping, changing light bulbs, painting and general upkeep and repair - Performs projects to help shop perform efficiently (organizing/cleaning, tire chain repair etc.) - Uses steam cleaner to clean trucks and trailers - Uses company owned vehicles to occasionally retrieve parts - Keeps garbage cans and shop scrap bins emptied on a daily basis - Monitors and maintains yard by keeping litter picked up, sweeping spilt piles of chips from trailers, maintaining drain grates per DEQ requirements (will train) - Maintains steam cleaning and wash bay areas - Responsible for upkeep of fuel island by keeping trash cans empty; clean small fuel spills per HAZMAT & DEQ requirements (will train), ensures island bays are clean of debris A successful candidate will possess - Ability to work independently while making good use of time and resources - Willingness to help other departments with odd jobs and needs - Pride in quality of work and the facility they will maintain - Basic mechanical skills - Basic repair and maintenance knowledge - Proven work history of being dependable & reliable - Valid driver license & insurable driving record This is a full-time, day shift position.
