Description
It takes a few weeks to learn this job thoroughly. For the most part you work alone in a beautiful semi-rural woodland. Though it's kind and private here, this is a laborer's job and a terrible choice for a couch-potato or office-worker looking for an alternative dollar or alternative exercise.
Onsite:
Load firewood into racks in the mornings for $13.50/hr and deliver in the afternoon. Some splitting with hydraulic logsplitter. Some landscaping work. Some general helper work.
Delivering:
We use Google Maps and a fixed-rate chart. Examples: A half pickup load, less than 20 miles round-trip, earns you $30. A full load up to 60 miles round-trip gets you $69. After your last delivery for the day you go home - no need to return here. Customers often want the firewood carried and stacked for $20/hr ($5/15 min). Tips tend to be good.
Some days there are no deliveries and on some days we may have a bunch. The most any driver has done is 5 deliveries in one day with his friend (5×$50 avg=$250!).
Saturday is our busiest day. You're off on Sunday and Monday though if you want to work Sunday that's fine (sometimes). You are independent - not an employee. We settle up every day or two with CashApp or cash. We work based on the customer's schedule and rack-loading/labor needs onsite.
