Join us for our 1st show of 2021! Friday June 18th, 7-10PM w/ Disorganizer, Formidable Foe, and Darīus! Outdoors in The Sound Garden! This diverse show will be the first nightshop show in 2021, and our first true event in 15 months! It will feature 3 acts, and run from 7-10PM. It will be outside in our beer garden (The Sound Garden). Advance tickets* are $12 (+ fees), and if any remain, $15 at the door. There will be 4 tables set up in front of the stage w/ table service for $22 a seat (+ fees) in advance, or $25 at the door. If you can, we request that you wear a mask if you are not vaccinated against COVID-19 whenever you are moving about the venue or not sitting. We also ask that you not attend if you're sick or have been exposed to someone w/ COVID-19. DISORGANIZER (B-N) - Instrumental, Jazz "Disorganizer harnesses the spirit of free jazz into approachable, unique instrumental music." They are a nightshop favorite, and we had to ask them to play our first show back! FORMIDABLE FOE (B-N) - Rock & Roll, Prog Rock, Progressive Jam "Formidable Foe is the brain-child of Mike McKenna, Jack Kendrick, and Kyle Woith. Mixing various genres of music together they fall somewhere between a jam and prog rock band. Jog Rock, some would say, or maybe even a Pram Band." Formidable Foe performed at nightshop twice before our shutdown, and they recorded a short, but super sweet set as part of our ongoing Live Performance Series. It was so sweet in fact that we asked them to perform at our first show of the year very shortly after! DARĪUS (Normal) - Hip Hop, Rap, Spiritual Darīus is an up and coming Hip Hop artist with a wide-screen vision for what he intends to do. He had previously performed at nightshop as MacNTosh, and he performed a recorded set that we recently published on our YouTube channel (nightshop / bloomington il). After doing so, we knew we wanted to feature him at our first show of 2021! Now, let's hear from him in his own words: "My name is Darīus. I was born and raised on the Southwest side of Chicago where music became a part of my life. I grew up hearing lots of Kanye, Common, Lupe Fiasco, Outkast, and even 2 Pac. It's amazing how much my mom loved music. She loved her old school R&B hits but she loved her Gospel music more than anything (which is why I'm so in love with soulful/spiritual sounds). My mom, grandma, older sisters, and God have been able to give me words of encouragement in the hardest times of life. As well as, this life has given and is still giving me a different perspective on how I view it. I'm changing the world with my music one crowd at a time. Honestly, I thank God for that. He knows of the leader that he destined for me to be. That's why I'm going to influence my generation, and generations to come by doing the one thing that I can do best...and that's speaking my truth."
