Learn to make portraits using one light source.
During this meeting, we will learn how to create great looking portraits using one light source.
We will discuss some of the basics such as:
- How ISO, Aperture, and shutter speed work together.
- Equipment (lens, soft boxes, beauty dishes, flash heads).
- Natural light.
- Planning.
During the second half of the meeting, we will take turns making some portraits. Be sure to bring your camera. I know my flash head will work with Nikon, Canon, and Sony DSLR cameras. I can't guarantee any other type of camera will work. Point and shoot cameras will not work with the flash heads. However, anyone is welcome to come and learn.
One of my great passions is photography. My very first photo was an image of my parents taken with a Brownie Hawkeye. I couldn't wait to drop the film at the drugstore. I was so excited when I got to see my photo a few days later. I was hooked.
I shoot a variety of subjects in many different situations. If it flies, crawls, swims, slithers, or is stationary it has probably been the subject of one of my photos.
One thing you may notice about me and my photographic style, I am a big believer in slowing down and noticing the small things. We pass by beautiful and fascinating things every day without noticing them. I challenge everyone to slow down, look, listen, and notice the small wonders which are waiting for us to enjoy.
