Description

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — No violations were found in 2020 testing of North Andover's drinking water, according to the recently published 2020 Water Quality Report. The town's water comes primarily from Lake Cochichewick, which provides roughly 3.2 million gallons per day this year. >>Read the full report. No violations were found, but elevated levels were found for one unregulated contaminant, sodium, which was found in the town's water at 44 parts per million, above the state guideline of 20 parts per million. Lab director Tiffany Blake said the sodium level is due to treatment technologies and is not an immediate health concern. There was no testing for concentrations of PFAs, also known as "forever chemicals," but it is expected to begin this year. The report also has information on how the water is treated, what residents can do to preserve water during the summer and other topics.
