Come on....we all know that if Kamala had made the unnecessary trip to the border, (where she is to do exactly what?......Stand guard with an AK47?) she would have been crucified for not going to the source of the problem to announce to the people in those countries to...."not come to America, we won't let you in!"... before those people decide to leave those countries because for some reason they believed that they can come here and be let in to feast on cicadas and honey. To dispel those dreams in their own countries hopefully gives them enough reason to stay home and fix their own problems ( like genocide), which is why they want to leave their lush beautiful countryside for America's slums or pesticide ladden fields in the first place. Those who already are on the road, most likely have no place to go now, and have the idea that America will help them. As a supposedly humanitarian society, I hope we can help them in some way, although the way we treat our own homeless society gives me little hope on indoctrinating a large group of mostly uneducated people into educated American citizens. But to imagine the workers, artists, writers, etc. that this country could garnish with a little investment in the people on the streets and refugees from poor third world countries, ( like one of my ancestors from Ireland who grew rotten potatoes but went on to start a cigar business and make me happen eventually) who could be flourishing and paying taxes because of our help, would be something worth imagining, I've always felt.
