LONG BEACH, NY — It's another step toward normal living, as the City of Long Beach has applications available for its Parks and Recreation Summer Camp Programs. There are two options for parents to choose from. The Morning Camp is for children entering kindergarten to age 12. It is scheduled to run Monday through Friday, June 28 to August 20. It's from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at a location to be decided: either West School, Lindell School or the Long Beach Middle School, the city said on its website. Activities will include arts & crafts, swimming, board games and basketball. For kids looking to sleep in this summer, there's the Afternoon Camp. It runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.,June 28 until August 20. This program is set for the Long Beach Recreation Center, the city's website said. Ages vary slightly from the morning, as it is open to children entering the 2nd grade in September through those 12 years old, as of July 1. Activities include basketball, baseball and lacrosse. Both camps offer the same pay structure: $575 for Long Beach residents, $625 for school district residents and $675 for non-residents. Teenagers, ages 13-15, can sign-up to become a counselor-in-training.
