Free Summer Meals Program Starts Next Week In Greenfield

GREENFIELD, WI—The Greenfield School District's Free Summer Meals program, where anyone 18 or younger can receive a week's worth of breakfast and lunch for free, starts Monday, according to a Facebook post from the district. The program is first-come-first-serve but does not require an ID or registration. Anyone 18 or younger is eligible for the program, the post said. Participants will receive seven days of free meals for breakfast and lunch, according to the post. The program will occur 4-6 p.m. each Monday over the summer by curbside pickup on the north side of Greenfield High School located at 4800 S 60th Street in Greenfield, the post said. The free meal program will repeat each Monday except for the week after July 4 where the program will occur on Tuesday, July 6 instead of Monday. Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2021, about 42 million Americans may not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
