STAMFORD, CT — A Bridgeport man was seriously injured after he was hit by a pickup truck and pinned between the truck and his van. Sgt. Jeff Booth from the Stamford Police Department's Collison Analysis and Reconstruction Squad said the accident happened in the area of 401 Wildwood Rd., on Wednesday shortly after 4:30 p.m. Officers responded after someone reported that a person was trapped between two vehicles. A 2015 GMC Savannah work van was parked partially on the roadway and partially in a driveway on Wildwood Road. The victim, a 31 year-old Bridgeport resident was standing near the rear of the van loading construction material into it. Police said a 2021 Toyota pick-up truck was traveling westbound on Wildwood Road and struck the rear of the van, pinning the victim between the van and pick-up truck. The pick-up truck operator said that he did not see the van prior to impact, according to Booth. The vehicles were lodged together due to the impact and could not be separated on their own. According to Booth, prior to emergency personnel arriving, an unknown truck stopped and used heavy duty straps to pull the Toyota away from the van, freeing the victim. The man was transported to Stamford Hospital by Stamford EMS with critical injuries. He is currently being treated at Stamford Hospital. The pick-up truck operator stayed on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Booth noted that the investigation remains ongoing, and no charges have been filed. The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is asking anyone that may have any further information regarding this collision to call (203) 977-4712. The case is being investigated by Booth and Police Officer Jill Moller.
