FREEHOLD, NJ - A bomb threat was reported at the Walmart location in Freehold Township on Wednesday, authorities said.
The threat, which was reported sometime Wednesday afternoon, was "thoroughly investigated and determined to be unfounded," Detective Sgt. Joseph Winowski of the Freehold Township Police Department told Patch.
The police department says there is no threat to the public.
Wednesday's threat serves as just the latest in a string of threats in the Jersey Shore region this week. Tuesday saw Asbury Park High School and the Thurgood Marshall Elementary School lockdown due to a safety threat. Although both schools reopened around noon, voting for the primary election was interrupted as the high school functioned as the only Asbury Park polling location.
A bomb threat was also reported near the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk last week.
This is a developing story. Patch will have more information as it comes in.
