CHARLOTTE, NC — An arrest has been made less than one day after Charlotte police launched a community-wide search for an 18-year-old woman they said was kidnapped Wednesday along an east Charlotte thoroughfare by a man known to her. Jada Lanise Latimer, 18, has been located and is safe, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Thursday morning. According to a CMPD account, officers responded to the 6300 block of Albemarle Road Wednesday morning shortly before 11:30 a.m. after receiving an emergency call about a domestic disturbance. "Upon arrival, officers learned that Latimer had been involved in an altercation with a male that was known to her. Following this incident, officers have been unable to locate Latimer and believe she may be in immediate danger," CMPD said. Wednesday evening, police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Christopher Bailey, and said warrants had been issued for his arrest for first-degree kidnapping and assault on a female. By Thursday morning, CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team located Bailey and arrested him on the warrants. CMPD said the investigation remains active and ongoing, and asked anyone with information about this incident call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
