PORT HURON, MI — The Blue Water Bridge connecting Michigan and Canada has repemed to traffic being closed for a little under an hour Thursday while a Michigan State Police Bomb Squad unit investigated a suspicious package found near the site. The bridge's temporary closure was announced around 9:10 a.m. Thursday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. "The Blue Water Bridge is temporarily closed due to a suspicious package being investigated near the bridge," U.S. Customs and Border Protection said on Twitter. Law enforcement officials told The Times-Herald that a suspicious container was found near train tracks by the bridge. The Michigan State Police bomb squad was called to investigate. Residents were asked to avoid the area of Wright and Elmwood streets, the newspaper reported.
