Work 40+ hours a week Full Healthcare Benefits (including Dental, Vision) 401k Plan PTO Vacation Paid Holidays Reimbursement for Safety Shoes Advance Development Training to increase pay rates POSITION SUMMARY: The Painter is a member of the Paint & Body Department and is responsible for the proper paint application on vehicles and/or parts. Paint & Body work teams are responsible for keeping production flowing, for meeting performance goals and for maintaining the high-level of quality that consumers expect from our products. This is a “safety sensitive” position; therefore, the employee must adhere to all OSHA and Standard Operating Procedures that have been put into place. JOB FUNCTIONS: • Visually inspect vehicle and remove any debris prior to painting • Determine the necessary application of sealer/primer with base coat and clear coat process for a thorough coat on door jambs • Check for runs, sags or dry spot to ensure quality finish to VMI specifications and OEM criteria • Responsible for troubleshooting any imperfections during paint application • Use a variety of hand and power tools following appropriate methods and procedures to complete required tasks, including but not limited to, HVLP spray gun • Maintain a clean and organized work area, and maintain all equipment according to established guidelines and quality standards • Cross train in other areas of department as needed • Maintains regular attendance and excellent punctuality • Read, learn, understand and interpret work instructions, written or verbal, to complete labor intensive tasks to the materials according to established guidelines and quality standards QUALIFICATIONS: • One year certificate from college or technical school; or 3+ years related painter experience in an automotive or industrial environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience • One year certificate from college or technical school; or 3+ years related automotive body work experience in an automotive or industrial environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience • 3+ years’ experience color matching • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Lean Six Sigma certification a plus • Painter certification a plus • Must be available to work overtime and/or weekends based on business needs • Must possess ability to work and cope well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and within production cycle times • Strong attention to detail, quality focused and willingness to learn • Great organizational skills and ability to prioritize • Valid driver’s license required; clean driving record must be maintained • Ability to work in a team environment and be flexible to change
