ORGANIZATION: Allegheny Children’s Initiative DEPARTMENT: Kid’s Club and Mom’s Empowerment POSITION: Child Care Worker STATUS: Part Time; 3 hours / week SCHEDULE: Late afternoons or evenings LOCATION: Different community locations within Allegheny County WAGES: To be discussed at interview Allegheny Children’s Initiative, a subsidiary of Partners For Quality Inc., is a non-profit organization that provides mental and behavioral health community-based services to children, adolescents and families throughout Allegheny County. Based in Pittsburgh’s South Side, we provide Intensive Behavioral Health Services, Service Coordination, Student Assistance, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and Family Based Mental Health programs. ACI has earned certification from the Council On Accreditation. The Child Care Worker will be responsible for supervising, playing with, and assuring the safety of the young children whose mother is participating in the Mom’s Empowerment Group. Primary duties include, but are not limited to: • Responding to the physical and emotional needs of the young children • Supervising the playing and play with the children • Communicating the needs and behaviors of the child to the parent at the session end • Communicating and collaborating with the leaders of the Mom’s Empowerment and Kid’s Club Groups and the Clinical Director QUALIFICATIONS 1. High School Diploma or equivalent; coursework in child development preferred 2. Experience caring for children in a group setting 3. Experience caring for children younger than four (4) years old 4. A warm, calm, patient and caring approach when interacting with young children 5. An understanding of the dynamic of families with children who have experienced or witnessed intimate partner violence in their home 6. Excellent communication skills 7. Valid Driver’s License 8. Use of personal vehicle required 9.
