O.L. Development, Inc. is a mid-size civil engineering contractor in the Los Angeles area. We concentrate on street improvement and underground wet/dry utility work in the public right of way. Projected continued growth has created the need to add an entry level estimator to our great team. We are looking for a construction estimator to calculate accurate costs and gains of civil construction projects. You will collect and analyze construction plans and perform quantity takeoffs. The ideal candidate will be very comfortable with numbers and extremely analytical. You must have great attention to detail and excellent communication skills. The goal is to provide the company with accurate cost estimating of new projects. Successful applicant will be joining a fast paced experienced team fueling a 20% annual growth rate in annual revenue. As a part of that team your hard work will be rewarded and is eligible for bonuses based on department and company performance. Responsibilities Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from submitted plans in a timely manner Prepare and submit bid proposals to clients Site visits and analysis of existing conditions and potential conflicts Track and update all estimating activity with weekly reports to senior managers Analyze data and produce forecasts of upcoming projects Perform risk analysis Prepare detailed reports for review by senior managers Select advantageous deals by evaluating offers and quotes Foster relationships with key vendors (clients, suppliers, subcontractors, etc.) Skills Ability to read and analyze blueprints Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis and estimation metrics Comfortable with numbers and technology Great attention to detail Excellent communication and negotiation abilities Well-organized and reliable Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other qualification will be a plus
