Need help removing dead lawn

We put down new sod in May, elm tree dumped a million little seeds into it, now dropping dead leaves. Sod never took, I can lift up sections of dead grass. Small backyard 228 sq feet, it took 23 pieces. I need help removing the dead pieces and taking it away, it just rolls up...
