We are a social venture. We operate an e-commerce website and run a number of social initiatives. We're looking for a full-time receiver at our warehouse and book donation center. You will be processing books, sorting them, cataloguing them, and scanning them through our system. You will also help with general labor around the warehouse, such as moving pallets, setting up recycling tubs, and helping clean. You also will be interacting with other employees and donors dropping books off at the warehouse. An interest in reading and knowledge of books is helpful and preferable, but not necessary. You must be able to lift and move boxes of up to 50lb. You should also be computer literate, energetic, responsible, and high energy. Fun and positive work environment; employees are encouraged to listen to music, interact with one another, etc. Starting pay btwn $15-17/hr. Pay increases available after 6 months of working; performance evaluations will determine potential increases based on merit. Positions available for day and night shifts. Day shift: 8am-4pm OR 9am-5pm, M-F. Night shift: 4pm-10pm, M-F. Temporary (summer) and long-term positions are available; please inquire for further information. About us: Books4Cause is a social enterprise based out of Skokie, IL. Our mission is to find books new homes. We collect book donations from Chicago, NYC, and other cities across the US, and then redistribute them through a variety of different channels. We currently work with the African Library Project to build university and K-12 libraries across the continent, and also operate free libraries throughout Chicago which offer free books to underserved communities.
