LOCATION SITE: AVILA UNIVERSITY Number of open positions: 3 Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour (based on experience) POSITION SUMMARY: Perform general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and equipment to provide a safe and functional environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: . Perform routine maintenance on dorm units. . Performs repairs and maintain structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpets. . Troubleshoots, adjusts, and repairs locks on doors, cabinets, desks, and closets; door hinges and key slots. . Changes filters on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning units. . Services appliances, installs appliances, reports mechanical malfunctions and determines appropriate action. . Moves furniture and equipment including installing cubicle partitions. . Share on-call responsibilities and responds to alarm calls during and after regular work hours. . Ensures campus environment is safe and working properly. . Performs basic rough and finished carpentry work in the construction and repair of structures such as partitions, walls, doors, window frames, office furniture, and shelves. . Removes broken glass, putty or plastic; replaces windows and door hardware; replaces or arranges for replacement of glass for windows, doors, and light fixtures. . Performs basic electrical installation and repair work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances; repairs lighting systems; inspects electrical systems for unsafe conditions. . Identifies and performs basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; opens clogged lines and drains, applies and prepares various surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain; repairs wall coverings. . Shares scheduled on call duties. . Assists the Grounds and Housekeeping Departments as necessary. . Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS: Candidates must possess at least 2 building trades Possess essential knowledge, skills and abilities to explain, demonstrate, and perform, with or without reasonable accommodations, the duties and responsibilities of the position. • Performing general maintenance and using basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, glass replacement, painting, masonry, appliance repair, and electrical wiring. • Operating and maintaining tools used in the maintenance and repair of building facilities. • Maintaining work and maintenance logs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds). • Climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. • Stand or walk for long periods of time. • Stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
