I am looking for a good general assistant with automotive work who can be a helper/bodyman or a painter in training, full time or part time, to work with me on classic and specialty cars. For over twenty years I have specialized in vintage cars, restoring and servicing vehicles from 1900 to 1985, building race cars for land speed racing and resto-mods. KEY INFORMATION: * Everyone must work a 2 week trial period for evaluation. Pay rate during this eval period is negotiable and based on experience and references. * We will only make an offer to hire after a 2 week trial period for evaluation. * Once hired, we are offering starting pay as a helper in the following range: $14-$20hr / $30,000-$41,600yr (Pay rate is based on the information we see during the 2 week trial period.) * They key to higher pay is being honest, reliable, flexible, and possessing a variety of skills or being able to accomplish a greater variety of needed tasks. DUTIES: - You are expected to be on time and work a full day. The schedule is roughly 9-6 M-F. - You are expected to treat property, equipment and vehicles respectfully. - You may have to work outdoors from time to time. - You will help with keeping the shop cleaned, organized and stocked with supplies. - You will be required to keep detailed records of your work and issues you find - You will be required to follow written checklists and procedures - You will report to a manager who will oversee and approve all work - You need to be able to work independently at times - You may need to make drivability repairs as needed and make sure everything is properly operational on inventory vehicles. - You may be tasked with handling inventory or other functions to assist management. - You may be tasked with general shop maintenance if you possess those skills. - You must exercise attention to detail and be able to work neat and clean. - You will need to have your own proper tools in order to make repairs to vehicles or advance in skill and position to earn more. We will provide a list of what tools would most likely be needed to start if you want to move into a better paying position. The primary workplace for this position is Conroe. You will be responsible for keeping your shop area clean during and after you have performed your work. The schedule is goal oriented and based on completion of tasks, but I build the schedule around a 9am-6pm and Mon-Fri timeframe. I can be flexible with advanced notice so long as the production is not delayed. I prefer not to work weekends if possible. I expect you to be on time. This job requires deals with expensive classic and vintage vehicles and is not for people who may be accident prone or clumsy. I am looking for someone full time but will consider a good candidate that wants part time only. If you possess a good variety of skills and ability to apply them, as well as some leadership ability, there is room for growth to manage others in the future. Pay is dependent on ability and equipment. Everyone will be required to work a 2 week trial period at a negotiated rate prior to an offer to hire.
