Join us for the second in a series of FREE Carousel Family Days in celebration of the Glen Echo Park Carousel's 100th Anniversary! Our second Carousel Family Day will be held on the grounds of Glen Echo Park as we CHALK THE PARK! Participants will be given a designated 5' x 5' square, spread out on the grounds, to create their own chalk art. Chalk will be provided! Draw your family or friends, aspects of the Park you enjoy, or the carousel - it is up to you! Participants and the public will also be able to watch three professional chalk artists from CHALK R!OT create their masterpieces in celebration of the Carousel's 100th Anniversary. All chalk artwork created will be photographed and shared on Glen Echo Park's website and social media, as well as enjoyed by the public for as long as it lasts. Help make the pavement at Glen Echo Park beautiful! This is a FREE activity and open to all, but due to limited available asphalt areas we will not be able to accommodate everyone. Pre-registration is required. Pre-registered groups will check-in and receive their assigned space and chalk. By registering for this events, all participants agree to: Only use chalk in their designate areas, and not use chalk on buildings, light poles, trees/bushes/greenery, etc.Families may also bring their own chalk if they choose, but it must be washable.All chalk art created must be family-friendlyWhile masks are required inside buildings, they are not required outdoors. However, masks are recommended for anyone unvaccinated when they are within 6' of others. Pre-registered groups can arrive any time between 11 am - 1 pm. However, if your group has not checked in by 1 pm, your space will be automatically forfeited and offered to another group on the waitlist. This activity does NOT include tickets to ride the carousel. Visit glenechopark.org/carousel to learn how to purchase tickets and ride safely. The rain date for this event is Sunday, June 20. Event sold out? You still have two options to still participate! 1. Put your name on the waitlist, and then arrive at the park a little before 1 pm to check in at the Partnership tent. Any pre-registered groups that have not checked in by 1 pm will automatically forfeit their space and it will be offered to someone on the waitlist. Priority will be given to any groups on the waitlist that have also checked in at the tent. 2. Come and enjoy watching the chalk artists at work! We will also have a "free chalk" area where anyone can come and draw. The Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture, Inc. manages Glen Echo Park, one of the most lively visual and performing arts sites in the Washington area.   Each year, more than 350,000 people come to the Park to renew their creative spirit through arts classes, festivals, exhibitions, dances, children’s theater, music performances, nature programs, and more.   Established by Montgomery County in 2002, the Partnership is a nonprofit organization charged with managing Glen Echo Park’s arts programs and facilities, including its historic buildings. The Partnership's mission is to present vibrant artistic, cultural, and educational offerings at the Park and to promote the Park as a unique destination for the region’s diverse population.
