Myrtle Beach’s entrepreneur support organization, eMYRge, is starting to host events again after the pandemic paused the organization in 2020. On June 24th, eMYRge will host Wilmington, NC-based entrepreneur, George Taylor at the Train Depot in downtown Myrtle Beach at 5:30 PM.
Taylor is a ten time startup founder with high profile successes such as UnTappd, a social media site for craft beer lovers. UnTappd is nationally recognized and received a huge investment from a Boston-based private equity firm in 2020.
He and his son created NextGlass and acquired the UnTappd brand in 2016. NextGlass / UnTappd won several awards such as the Best Emerging Company from the NC Technology Association and were winners of the Coastal Entrepreneur Awards.
UnTappd is an international brand that has been profiled in newspapers and magazines such as The Wall Street Journal and Forbes.
Taylor is now running TRU Colors Brewing that employs ACTIVE gang members in Wilmington with a social mission that leads the business. TRU Colors is succeeding in reducing the violent crime in Wilmington and paying living wages to an underserved market.
Taylor is a successful portfolio entrepreneur with several businesses running at the same time as he has another company called National Speed. A speed shop based in Wilmington with an additional location in Richmond and more to be announced soon.
