ROSLYN, NY — Authorities have arrested a man they say threatened two people with a weapon during a dispute in Roslyn. The incident occurred Monday night at a home on Pine Drive North. According to a statement released Tuesday, Daniel Conwell, 40, was arguing with a 50-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman when he pulled out what appeared to be a handgun. Nassau County police say the Roslyn resident then pointed the weapon at the pair and demanded money from them. It was not immediately known whose home Conwell was in or what caused the argument. However, the victims were able to convince him to leave the residence. Police said they found Conwell less than half a mile away and he was arrested without incident. They also reportedly recovered a pellet pistol and a couple of prescription pills. Conwell has been charged with first-degree attempted robbery, second-degree menacing, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
