MILFORD, MA — Like many towns in Massachusetts, Milford's usual July 4 festivities are on hold again this year following the pandemic. But organizers behind the town's July 4 parade are planning some events. A bike parade for kids will be held downtown the morning of Independence Day, according to organizers. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on July 4 at Stacey Middle School, and then travel along Spruce, Congress and Walnut streets before ending at Memorial Elementary School. Organizer Joe Callery said the Milford Fourth of July committee didn't have time to put together a formal parade this year. Although coronavirus is receding, Gov. Charlie Baker didn't lift restrictions on public gatherings until May 29, leaving little time to plan. Apart from the bike parade, Callery said the committee hopes to encourage residents to decorate cars and drive through Milford for the holiday. Organizers are planning to bring the full parade back for 2022.
