NEW YORK, NY — Live music is rocking New York City again as the first full capacity shows return to venues welcoming fully vaccinated fans. The Foo Fighters said Tuesday it'll be the first band to take to Madison Square Garden in 460 days, playing at the famed arena June 20. The show will be in front of a 100 percent capacity crowd. "We've been waiting for this day for over a year," singer Dave Grohl said in a statement. "And Madison Square Garden is going to feel that HARD." Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations will be required when fans' tickets are checked, MSG said. Another show – at Gramercy's Irving Plaza – has been organized as a fundraiser for the mayoral campaign of Maya Wiley and will bring The Strokes to the stage June 12. Again the venue will require proof of vaccination to be shown at the door. Another show, this time a mega-concert planned for Central Park's Great Lawn, is tentatively being planned for August 21 as a celebration of the city's reopening after COVID, Mayor Bill de Blasio said. The New York Times reported that 70 percent of tickets would go to vaccinated people.
